Admiring Avicenna’s ‘The Canon of Medicine’ is celebration of culture and sciences, asserted Ali Akbar Velayati.
A
press conference was held on Tuesday on the Congress of the 1,000th Anniversary
of the compilation of Avicenna’s ‘The Canon of Medicine’.
It
was held in the presence of Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati, a member of the Supreme
Council of the Cultural Revolution and head of the Islamic Culture and
Civilization Committee of the Council.
The
years 2012 and 2013 are named by the UNESCO as the 1000th anniversary of
penning the ‘Cannon of Medicine’, said Velayati.
A
congress is arranged at Tarbiat Modaress University to be held in this regard
on October 29.
During
the congress thinkers and researchers will present their articles about the
books and Avicenna’s innovations in writing his book, added Velayati.
Furthermore,
a day after the congress, a ceremony will be held at Avicenna’s tomb in Hamadan
in the presence of governmental and provincial officials.
