The
workshop of traditional ways of binding was held with the support of the
binding section of the central library. In this workshop Abdollah Anvar,
codicologist and veteran researcher of manuscripts taught the traditional ways
of preserving old manuscripts.
The
different ways of binding, referring to the different types of papers, the
traditional material used in binding and the advantages and disadvantages of
using traditional methods were among the topics discussed in the workshop.
Seyyed
Abdollah Anvarzadeh is one of the veterans of binding in Iran he was born in
1924 and is a researcher, mathematician and expert of ancient mathematical
manuscripts.
He
was the head of ancient manuscripts in the national library for more than 20
years, and has edited more than 10 old Arabic and Persian manuscripts. Anvar
has also edited one of the volumes of Dehkhoda dictionary.
The
translation and editing of 22 volumes of Avicenna's "Cure", The
translation and explanation of Khajeh Nasir's "Sharh-al-Esharat",
Comprehensive commentary on Alaee pamphlet by Avicenna, the translation of
"Philospher's aim" by Ghazzali, the translation and commentary on the
works of Sohrevardi and many other books are among the corrections of Anvar.
Anvar
is also is also an expert in estimating dates of manuscripts. With Iraj Afshar
he is one of the experts in the national library that estimates the values of
different manuscripts in order to buy and preserve them in the national
library.
He
is an avid book reader and critics who writes reviews on books written on
politics, philosophy and contemporary history.
His
"Book of Tehran" is a collection of essays, pictures and maps of
Tehran. In this book he introduces many of the old neighborhoods of the capital
city.
Anvar
is an expert in Qajar history. His father was an MP during the Qajar rule and
therefore he has learned many things from that period. According to him the
history of Qajar dynasty was very directly related to the history of his own
family.
The
national library of Iran, Astan Qods library, the archive of the ministry of
foreign affairs and Iranology organization are among the centers and
organizations that constantly use the advices of Mr Anvar before practicing a
policy.
Anvar
is not yet retired he keeps conducting researches and teaching different
subjects.
